With their newly minted 501(c) 3 designation, The Friends of the Rye Public Library thought it was time to develop a logo for the organization.“ In discussing a designer for the project, Friends’ President Emeritus Becky Franz recognized an opportunity as close by as the Rye Elementary School.“ Already working cooperatively with the Rye Public Library through a library management system shared between the public, middle, and elementary school libraries, it was a natural to collaborate further.“ The concept has worked out tremendously well, with Rye Elementary School third grader Holly Galvin, the Friends’ logo winner, honored at an award ceremony and art show opening featuring all the entries.
Second grade students Michael Bell and Sebastian Tabit also received awards for their combined work to create a second logo to be used by the Rye Public Library.
Honorable mention was awarded to Evie Brousseau, Hayley Currier, Pheobe Luneau, Sophie Foley, Jemea White, and Margot Williamson. Special thanks to Rye Elementary School Art Teacher Cindy Bean for her help engaging her classes in the contest.“ Thanks to all the outstanding artists who contributed designs!
