Summer Reading Program Thursday Activities

Come visit on a Thlegoursday Morning! We have “Triple Ticket Trivia”.  Answer a question and get 3 tickets!

From 9:30-10:30AM on June 30, July 7, July 14 and July 21 we have Reading Buddies. Stop in to practice your reading with a teen.

From 9:30-10:30AM on July 28, August 4 and August 11 we have Listening Dogs here  for reading practice.

From 11:00AM- 12:00PM on Thursdays from June 30- August 11 we Lego Mania. We have LOTS of Legos. Come build something fun!

Storyteller and Humorist Simon Brooks July 19th

The Youth DeSimon-Brookspartment is pleased to present Simon Brooks, a storyteller and humorist here on Tuesday July 19th from 6:30-7:30PM. Join us for this engaging, powerful performance! Simon will be telling stories from all over the world. Simon’s performances have been likened to a cross between an intimate conversation and a solo theater production, complete with sound effects and character voices which will leave you astonished that they came from just one person. This is a wonderful evening the whole family will enjoy!

Bead-n-Read

I've got a secretBead-n-Read is a new program in the Youth Department! During each session we will do a beading craft while listening to an audio book. This program is for ages 8+ (Grades 3+). This photo is an example of one of our previous projects!   This program is a hit!** Please note that the July 18th session and the August 1st session are both full, but you can be put on the waitlist. We still have room on Thursday August 11th.

There will be 4 separate sessions: Tuesday July 5th from 6:00 – 8:00PM; Monday July 18th from 2:00 – 4:00PM; Monday August 1st and Thursday August 11th from 2:00 – 4:00PM. Space is limited to 6 in each group. Sign-up is REQUIRED  (so I have enough supplies for everyone – thanks!)

SRP- Cookies and Milk Pajama Story Time with Chris Rose July 26

Join upajama storytime bears on Tuesday July 26th at 6:30PM. Tonight we welcome back Chris Rose for a cookies and milk pajama story time! Chris is a 4th grade teacher and illustrious book seller. He delights audiences with his readings of favorite (and very funny) books!

Youth Picnic & Field Day Tuesday August 2nd

The Youth Department is pleased trunnerso announce our Family Picnic and Field Day…On Your Mark, Get Set, READ!  Picnic dinner and fun old-fashioned races and games to get everyone moving!  Tuesday, August 2nd 4:30 – 6:30pm. This event is rain or shine. We will meet here at RPL and go to Parson’s Field. We will hold the event here in the event of rain.  Sign-up is required, so please contact us now!

Read to a Labrador Retriever!

Practice and improve your reading skills by reading to a black lab who will listen patiently and without judgement! This year we are offering drop in sessions of 15 minute slots between 9:45 and 10:45AM on Thursdays June 25,  July 2, July 9th, July 23,  July 30 and August 6  (Sorry, no session on July 16). Bring your reading choice, or pick out something here. These dogs are wonderful!

SRP Gaming with Lisa Monday July 27

Star wars xboxGaming with Lisa* Come play a game on our XBOX 360 with Kinect!! No need to sign-up–just drop in!

On Monday July 27th from 11:00AM to 12:00PM we will be playing the Star Wars Video Game. Ratings range from E for Everyone to E10+ to T for Teen. Please be sure to check the content of these games to be sure that the game is appropriate for your child.
