Dumbledore’s Army – Harry Potter Club September 6th

Dumbledore’s Army next meets on Tuesday September 6th from 6:00 to 7:30PM. Please note our new schedule for the school year.  We will now meet on the first Tuesday of  the month. All Ages are welcome!

This once-a-month group meets in the room of requirement to do Harry Potter-related crafts, eat HP-related foods, watch movies, discuss books, do read-alouds, have trivia nights, read and/or write fanfic…whatever we can think up related to the Wizarding World!  I assure you, it is a blast!

Parents, please remember, only children aged 8+ may be left in the library without supervision. Please call the library if you have any questions.

 

Make a Fairy House Program Wednesday September 14th

We are getting excited about the Portsmouth Fairy House Tour happening on September 24th and 25th! We are having our own Make a Fairy House program on Wednesday September 14th at 5:30PM: Make your own Fairy House to display at here at RPL or take home. Here is a picture of a fairy house that was built here last fall!

Dress up to attend! Sign-up is required and space is limited.

Chess Club September 21st

School Early Release Day Program Wednesday September 28th

School has Early Release on  Wednesday September 28th. We will be showing the movie  The Jungle Book jungle bookin the Community Room. The Wednesday movie we usually show for adults has been selected for the early release so that our youth can attend. This movie is rated PG*, runs for 106 minutes & begins at 1:00PM.

Join us for this new epic adventure from Disney Studios. Mowgli, a man-cub raised in the jungle by a family of wolves, embarks on a journey of self discovery when he is forced to abandon the only home he has known.

In addition to the movie, Lisa will hold a Teen craft event from 1:00-2:00PM. This will be drop-in, but limited to the first 8 to arrive. More information will be available soon!

 

 

Harry Potter Movie Marathon August 18th and 19th

Harry Potter Movie Marathon harry-potter-movies-in-orderAugust 18th 8am – 6:30pm and August 19th 8am – 6pm. Two Glorious Days of Hogwarts!

Wear costumes (contest!)

What to bring: your own pillows, blankets, sleeping bags to set up camp; bring your lunch both days (pizza will be served in the evenings for dinner).

NOTE: Your admission price is a Harry Potter – themed snack to share with others! (A Google search yields fun and easy ideas). Thank you!

No age restriction, but keep in mind that some of the films are rated PG-13. Please contact the youth department for more information!

 

Bead-n-Read Thursday August 11th

I've got a secretBead-n-Read is a new program in the Youth Department! During each session we will do a beading craft while listening to an audio book. This program is for ages 8+ (Grades 3+). This photo is an example of one of our previous projects!

This is our last session of the summer: Thursday August 11th from 2:00 – 4:00PM. Space is limited to 6 in each group. Please note that August 11th session is full, but we can put you a a wait-list.

Harry Potter 12 Hour Readathon July 29th

WOW!! We areharry-potter-series having a 12 hour live streaming, read aloud marathon from 9:30AM until 9:30PM Friday July 29th! We are celebrating the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on July 31st.

Stop in or call today to sign-up for half hour increments. More information is available in the Youth Department. Please note that the hours of this program has been revised to be 12 hours.

Chess Club July 20th

 chessChess Club!   Our next session is Wednesday July 20th from 3:15 – 5:15PM.  3:15 – 4:15 will be a free play time. Chess Pro Michael Sullivan will be here from 4:15 – 5:15 to present fun chess activities and teach kids how to play. We are pleased that we will be continuing this program throughout the summer on the 3rd Wednesday of the month.
