Benjamin Kilham Black Bear Rehabilitator
January 15 @ 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Ben Kilham of Lyme, NH is a licensed wildlife rehabilitator with the State of New Hampshire. Through his Kilham Bear Center, he and his sister Pheobe have twenty-six years of experience rehabilitating, learning from, and releasing endangered black bear cubs brought to them by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department. After caring for abandoned, injured or orphaned cubs, the Kilham Center has successfully released 165 bears back into the wild and observed and documented more than 1,500 interactions in nature.
Kilham is an internationally recognized expert with National Geographic film and magazine accounts of his work. He is also featured in a 2018 IMAX film, “Pandas,” about his work at China’s behest to assist in their efforts to re-introduce rare giant pandas to their native wild.
He has authored multiple books and articles based on his years of observing, documenting and experimenting with black bear behavior. His presentation will include a slide show and talk about this long and intimate journey of discovery.
Join us on Wednesday, January 15 at 6:30 (snow date January 22) to meet a true New Hampshire Treasure and learn more about Ben’s fascinating work both at the Bear Center and around the world.
